Constantly working to improve our technologies

We are constantly working to improve our technologies in an effort to address the needs of our customers. These are some of the examples of new innovations to be released soon:

2nd generation Freshure® Coatings:

Depending on the geography and regulatory restrictions, converters around the world are currently using different types of inks and adhesives for processing polymeric films into fully functional packaging structures. The wide variety of different chemistries used by the converters represent challenges when developing barrier coatings, e.g. the inks used in Central and East Asia have often a different chemical composition as those used in Western Hemisphere. Our 2nd generation Freshure® Coatings are aimed to be compatible with all types of inks and adhesives regardless of their chemical composition.

Freshure® on paper:

In general global efforts to transform flexible packaging into a more sustainable industry can be divided in two different approaches. One strategy involves replacing multilayer laminates with mono-material structures such as PE which are easily recyclable. The other approach centers around deploying bio-based materials such as paper eliminating the use of fossil based polymeric films altogether. However, the use of paper in packaging structures is greatly restricted mainly due to its poor barrier properties. Currently we are modifying our Freshure® Coatings to provide high gas barrier on paper. The combination of Freshure® coatings with paper is expected to produce a fully biodegradable non-petroleum based high barrier solution to be used in circular packaging.
